Editing a Workflow - Setting the Condition to Start Workflow
In this page below we’ve chosen to edit the ‘Condition’. You may ‘Reset’ or clear this current condition or you may simply set the Field and Operator.
As you can see in Figure -4- you have a wide variety of fields to choose from to set the condition. The choices that are not standard fields, like ‘Send Intro Email & Whitepaper’, correspond to the Call Stat / Click action fields that you can define.

The choices of ‘Fields’ for setting the condition (left hand side) include:
- Any Field
- The Sales Progress Fields - Lead Status, Lead Value etc.
- Many of the demographic fields – Zip, City, Phone etc.
- The Call Stat / Click Action Fields
- The User Definable ‘Special Interest Fields’
- The Assignment Fields – Account Manager, Partner Rep etc.
The choices for ‘Operator’ are
- =
- < > (does not equal)
- > (greater than)
- < (less than)
- >= (greater than or equal to)
- <= (less than or equal to)
- Was Updated
- Was Checked
The choice for ‘Value’ depends upon your choice of field. For example, if you chose ‘Close Date’ as the ‘Field’ then your choice of ‘Value’ would be a date. Likewise, if you chose ‘Lead Status’ as the field for the condition then your choices would be the ones that were defined in the drop down menu for ‘Lead Status’ (to define the drop down menus use the reference tables available in Administration).
You can alsostring multiple Conditions together. For example, if this is a new record, for the ABC Campaign and the Lead Source is equal to ‘Google Adwords’ then the resulting actions should take place: 1) send the introduction email and 2) schedule a follow up phone call for tomorrow.
Note: It is critically important that you use parenthesis if you are going to string multiple conditions together. For example: Campaign = Google AND (State = NY OR State = CA) is not the same as Campaign = Google AND State = NY OR State = CA. Without the proper use of parenthesis the system may misinterpret your request.
